Restaurants In America Closing At A Rapid Rate Due To Coronavirus (Covid-19)

At the beginning of the pandemic business entities stated the restaurant industry in America would lose 7,000,000 jobs due to lockdowns and accompanying changes. Many restaurants in America have now permanently closed (U.S. Economy Struggling Under Unprecedented Damage Due To The Coronavirus Which Has Shuttered 50% Of Restaurants In The Nation).

This week I discovered one of the main locations of Florida restaurant Pollo Tropical closed down. The restaurant was in business for at least 25-years in Downtown Miami (an area of courts, restaurants and retail shops, which was once booming and is now showing massive economic decline with many empty spaces stating "for lease" or "for rent"). It is a bad sign regarding the economy and the damage that has occurred due to the virus.

The restaurant location was always full and made millions of dollars over the years. However, it is now closed due to the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19). Meanwhile, select other locations of Pollo Tropical remain open. I figured out why the other locations that were not as lucrative as the one in downtown fared better. They have drive-thrus where you can buy food without going inside while the pandemic rages. The location in downtown Miami could not accommodate a drive-thru window due to preexisting building design constraints.

For many months I have publicly stated the restaurant model used during the pandemic should be takeaway/takeout. There are other restaurants I go to that have remained open during the pandemic, but they all do takeaway/takeout. One is not allowed to dine in due to the pandemic. Only 10 people are allowed in at a time, while others wait outside. Everyone inside and outside observe social distancing, hand sanitizing and mask wearing. These restaurants that have been around for years are still making thousands of dollars per day, even during the pandemic.

A recent study found some mask wearers contracted coronavirus. However, it also noted they went to restaurants and or bars, and removed the masks to eat and drink. This is where transmission occurred. However, science works. People who have properly observed medical and science guidelines have avoided contracting the potentially deadly virus.

Another serious concern is in households where some observe medical and scientific guidelines, but other members of the family (or friends) do not, as it can cause transmission of the virus in the home when people let down their guard by taking off their masks to eat, drink and do other things.

Therefore, wash your hands frequently, wear masks, social distance and sanitize your homes and offices. Keep up these practices as it can keep you healthy and alive during the coronavirus pandemic.
