Former Broward County Sheriff's Deputy, Scot Peterson, age 56, has been arrested on 11 counts of child neglect, culpable negligence and perjury charges, in relation to the deadly mass shooting that occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018. 17 people died in the shooting, including 13 students. The school shooting was waged by schizophrenic former student, Nikloas Cruz.

CCTV footage revealed an armed Peterson remained outside the building while the shooting took place inside the school. Peterson stated he was following procedure. However, an investigation has determined otherwise. Peterson has been fired from his job as a sheriff's deputy. Peterson's attorney, Joseph A. DiRuzzo, is vowing to mount a strong defense in this case.

Jun 4, 2019, 9:19 PM ET - A former Florida sheriff's deputy has been arrested on felony charges over his handling of the deadly mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland last year. Broward County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Scot Peterson, 56, was terminated from his position and charged with multiple counts of child neglect on Tuesday after an internal investigation found that he retreated while students were under attack in the February 2018 shooting, that left 17 people dead.

Internal investigators claimed Peterson “did absolutely nothing to mitigate the MSD shooting,” according to a statement. He faces seven counts of neglect of a child, three counts of culpable negligence and one count of perjury...
