Son Of NASA Engineer Shot And Killed Two Video Gamers In Florida After Losing Tournament August 27. 2018
David Katz Yesterday, 24-year-old David Katz opened fire during a Madden video game competition in Jacksonville, Florida because he was losing the tournament. Katz won the tournament in 2017, but lost early in this year's competition. Katz fired off several shots, killing two people and wounding others, before turning the gun on himself. The incident shocked gamers everywhere, as it is a peaceful community that gives many people enjoyment, a sense of brotherhood and a chance to earn income, while staying away from criminal activity, such as gangs. The shooter is son of NASA engineer Richard Katz and his ex-wife Elizabeth Katz. David Katz was being treated at Sheppard Pratt Health System in Maryland for mental illness. He should not have been permitted to own a gun. It is something I have written about on this website for years. Years ago I proposed mentally ill people be
barred from owning guns, via medical doctors adding their
names to a national database. Months later the Obama
Administration used the idea and made it law ( Sadly, it was recently repealed. Katz's conduct is further proof it needs to be made law again, much like Nikolas murdering his classmates and members of faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. He too was being treated by a psychiatrist (Repealed 2016 Law Would Have Kept Guns Out Of The Hands Of Florida School Shooter Nikolas Cruz Who Went On To Kill 17 People - the Compendius site is temporarily down). Why would you want guns in the hands of someone with impaired judgment due to mental illness. Why would you want guns in the hands of someone with psychotic urges they are not controlling, due to mental illness. How could anyone think a combination of mental illness and guns will end well. However, the NRA are in favor of it, due to gun sales and people are paying for it with their lives. STORY SOURCE Sheriff: Gunman had 2 guns, extra ammo when he targeted gamers JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The 24-year-old man accused of opening fire Sunday afternoon at a "Madden NFL 19" regional tournament at the Jacksonville Landing, killing two and shooting 10 others, clearly targeted fellow gamers, Sheriff Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams announced Monday. Williams said 24-year-old David Katz, of Baltimore, had two handguns with him -- a .45-caliber and a 9 mm -- and extra ammunition when he entered Chicago Pizza and headed to the Good Luck Have Fun Game Bar. Williams said there were about 130-150 people in restaurant and bar at the time. "He walked past patrons in other parts of the business and targeted gamers," Williams said. Surveillance video clearly shows a gunman, and it appeared that Katz only fired one of his guns. A livestream of the tournament captured gunfire, shouts and screams about 1:30 p.m. The crowd scattered, some taking refuge at Hooters restaurant and other open businesses at the Landing... Gamer gunman was hospitalized for psychological issues and struggled at college where he fell behind as it's revealed his NASA engineer father and government worker mom argued over his medical care when they divorced Published: 15:58 EDT, 27 August 2018 | Updated: 16:01 EDT, 27 August 2018 - The Jacksonville shooter who killed two people before turning his handgun on himself on Sunday struggled at college and had 'significant' medical needs which resulted him undergoing psychiatric treatment, it has been revealed. David Katz, 24, died on Sunday after shooting dead two competitors at the Madden 19 qualifier in Florida. A fuller picture of his life began to emerge on Monday as the FBI raided the home his father lived in in Baltimore, Maryland. Richard Katz is a NASA engineer. He divorced David's mother Elizabeth in 2007. The pair have one other son, Brandon, 28. On Monday, staff from The University of Maryland revealed how David struggled to keep up after enrolling in classes in 2014, three years after graduating from Hammond High School. Before he attended college, he went to Sheppard Pratt Health System in Towson for psychiatric treatment.
