Miami Gardens, Florida police officer Jordy Yanes Martel, has been fired and arrested for dragging 33-year-old pregnant black woman, Safiya Satchell, from her Mercedes SUV and tazing her stomach and neck, in an unprovoked incident. Satchell is seen screaming in pain in a mobile phone video that captured the police brutality against the unarmed woman.

Forbes magazine reported, "Satchell got into an argument with a club manager over food, and that manager later went to Martel and another officer, asking that she be given a trespassing warning."

Rather than speak to her about the argument in a calm manner, when she refused to exit her parked car due to having removed her shoes, police officer Martel yanked Satchell out of her vehicle, threw her to the floor and proceeded to taze the frightened woman. Satchell's friend filmed the incident using her mobile phone.

Martel is now facing assault charges. He posted $6,000 bail and was released from jail. This incident is very disturbing. She was not being arrested. Therefore, she did not resist arrest. Satchell is no longer pregnant.

Miami Gardens officer accused of forceful arrest of pregnant woman bonds out of jail  

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) - A former Miami Gardens police officer accused of using excessive for in the arrest of a pregnant woman is off the force after bonding out of jail. Jody Martel was captured on camera using a Taser on a pregnant woman and putting his knee on her neck outside of Tootsie’s Cabaret in January.

Martel was arrested Thursday and charged with battery and official misconduct. Thirty-two-year-old Safiya Satchell was arrested after a confrontation with Tootsie’s staff. Martel, who worked the security detail that night, went too far according to Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle.

Fernandez-Rundle said, “Martel allegedly used excessive force by putting his knee on Ms. Satchell’s neck. He went into Sacthell’s car without any evidence that she had committed a crime.”...
