Lori Loughlin And Husband Mossimo Giannulli Sentenced To Prison In College Admissions Cheating Scandal (Video)

"Full House" Star Pleads Guilty And Gets Light Sentence

August 22. 2020

"Aunt Becky" is going to prison y'all

Hollywood actress Lori Loughlin, 56, and her husband, fashion designer, Mossimo Giannulli, 57, have been sentenced to prison in the U.S. college admissions cheating scandal. Loughlin has been sentenced to 2-months, a $150,000 fine and 100 hours of community service. Giannulli has been sentenced to 5-months, a $250,000 fine and 250 hours of community service.

The couple pleaded guilty to avoid being sentenced to several years in prison, rather than months. I warned from the inception of the case that they should plead guilty, as it was obvious they broke the law and the government was in possession of evidence to that effect (Lori Loughlin Taking Dangerous Risk In Pleading Not Guilty In College Admissions Bribery Scandal).

The government was not bluffing. I don't know why they thought otherwise. Now instead of spending days in jail they are scheduled to spend months in prison. While I am sorry for them to a certain degree, as Loughlin comes across as a nice person, I don't agree with what they did. It's not a harmless crime. Teens who actually worked very hard and achieved the best grades were robbed of their spots at universities and that's not fair.

The couple paid a recruiter, William "Rick" Singer, $500,000 to get their daughters into the University of Southern California. It is a common practice in Hollywood to pay for underachieving kids to get into top schools. However, it deprives hardworking kids with the intellect to produce more in society regarding what they can accomplish through the respective schools' coursework, in reference to spots they actually earned.

Prosecutors painted the picture that Giannulli was the mastermind behind the family getting involved in the scam to get their daughters unearned placement at the University of Southern California. However, prosecutors also stated Loughlin knew it was unlawful and was complicit in the crimes.

It's not over yet. Loughlin and Giannulli have also been sued in a class action claim by graduates of Stanford University, who formally state their degrees have been devalued by the college admissions cheating scandal.
