U.S. Marshals To Transport Shackled R Kelly To New York To Face Federal Criminal Charges For Sexually Abusing Underage Girls

R&B singer R Kelly is feeling the full weight of the U.S. Federal government. The criminal charges initially filed against pedophile Kelly was in state court, which is easier for defense attorneys to maneuver. However, federal criminal court is another story. Federal prosecutors have different guidelines and more tools at their disposal to go after criminals.

Federal prisons are also different from less severe state jails. Now that Kelly has been slapped with federal charges for having sex with underage girls the narrative has complete changes and so have his prospects. He’s in trouble. Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg is putting on a brave face, as most lawyers do, but things are not in the singer’s favor.

Kelly is under indictment in two federal jurisdictions (Illinois and New York). U.S. Marshals will transport Kelly in shackles from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago to New York federal court, where he will face arrest again. The feds have the option of flying Kelly to New York. However, the singer is notoriously afraid of flying.

The U.S. Marshals could transport him by vehicle. A prison van is a far cry from the luxury tour buses and sports cars Kelly is used to as a celebrity. It’s quite a fall from grace, but one that is richly deserved for the harm he has done to underage girls, some as young as 11-years-old. Kelly could have had just about any grown woman he wanted to but he repeatedly and wantonly chose underage girls and scarred them for life with his physically and mentally abusive behavior. It’s time he goes to prison for it.
