Queen Elizabeth II gave her annual Christmas message televised to Britain and the Commonwealth. The Queen spoke about the public going through hard times and advised unity in the face of the current societal troubles. In itself it is a good message. However, the Queen, who drinks champagne everyday according to her former chef, delivered the speech while sitting in close proximity to a golden piano in Buckingham Palace.

Who told her to do that. The British public sounded off on social networking, heavily criticizing the Queen for lecturing them about poverty and hard times while sitting by a gold piano in a palace. The comments online about the Queen were not pretty.

When you lecture the nation and Commonwealth about poverty while sitting by a gold piano, the message with fall on deaf ears. The royal family and their ever increasing budgets signal they are tone deaf, pardon the pun. This would be the time for them to financially cut back. However, the exact opposite has happened, much to the British public’s dismay.

For example, the Queen’s son, Prince Andrew, demanded a £60,000,000 yacht for the royal family. This too angered British people on social networking, as Prime Minister Theresa May has made so many excessive cuts to benefits and social services, a record 230,000 people have been rendered homeless in Britain. Even the United Nations condemned Theresa May’s government for this disgraceful development.

Never mind, May gave the royal family a raise of millions of pounds, bringing them up to £100,000,000 per year in taxpayer money. May also approved a £368,000,000 renovation of Buckingham Palace on taxpayer money. To do these things, but cut benefits to the poor isn’t right. The poor need the money the most.

As I have stated for the past couple years, the royal family are living in their own world, detached from reality. There is growing sentiment online that the monarchy should be abolished and I am of the belief a political party in Britain is going to bring it about in the not too distant future via a parliamentary move that will leave the monarchy shocked.
