Taylor Swift’s ‘Cats’ Movie Has Flopped At The
Box OfficeDecember 23. 2019
Taylor Swift in "Cats"
2-weeks ago social networking reacted negatively to
the pre-release trailer of the movie musical “Cats” starring singer
Taylor Swift. The public complained the singers and actors dressed
as cats, with some CGI effects to make them look more like animals,
was creepy. The project did not look very interesting.
This past weekend “Cats” which cost over
$100,000,000 to make, opened at the box office and flopped. The film
opened with a paltry $6,500,000. The studio was expecting twice as
much revenue in the opening weekend and has pulled the film. This
spells bad news for Swift's acting career.
Swift is not connecting with audiences as before.
Her record sales are down and viewing numbers for television shows
she helmed, such as the American Music Awards, have declined as
well. Swift’s audience is most pre-teen and teen girls, who wouldn’t
be interested in a musical of this nature, which is more grown up.
