Success Breeds Enemies

Success breed enemies. I'm noticing a troubling pattern of young people doing something with their lives being targeted by those engaging in knife and gun crime, who deem them soft. It's clear that well-behaved people who are making something of themselves are wrongly being viewed as weak by some in society.

You should be glad to have the so-called nerds in society, because at some point in your life you will need them. They become doctors, lawyers, scientists, engineers and teachers. The so-called nerds are very disciplined and stronger than you know to commit themselves to studying complex subjects and achieving their goals.

I read about a 16-year-old boy in London, who was known in his area for being a smart business student who was doing something with his life. He was going to attend university. However, a teenage gang began picking on him in a fast food restaurant, then stabbed him to death outside the establishment. His family is devastated by his senseless death.

Then there's the tragic story of Lesandro Gusman Feliz, who was a 15-year-old boy that stayed out of trouble and was working towards becoming a police officers, when gang members murdered him in a case of mistaken identity (12 Gang Members Indicted In New York In The Appalling Murder Of 15-Year-Old Lesandro Guzman-Feliz).

I realize some of you are involved in gangs and knife crime. I'm imploring you to stop. You must realize that the evil you do to others will come back you. As it is written, "You live by the sword, you die by the sword." I've seen a lot in life and have been told stories of the damaging things that befell criminals just as they had dished it out to others. It's not a good life to lead. Get on the straight and narrow. 

Talk to your parents or a counselor at school or in a charity and tell them you need to get out of the gang and do something productive with your life. And you can have a good life. Choose something you enjoy, whether it be music, acting, sports, building - whatever it is that makes you happy that is a lawful professional. You can be gainfully employed. Get away from the gang activity. You don't want to end up dead or in prison, as the latter is a hard life.

I've been reading reports about the condition of prisons in America, Britain and the Caribbean. You will not waltz in there as a criminal and have an easy life of watching TV, exercising in the yard and playing cards. It is mentally and emotionally difficult being in a cell day after day for 23-hours per day, not able to go out to the places you enjoy.

Many prisons have an early wake up time of 5:00AM and structure inmates days in a manner meant to produce discipline and order. You will not run the show in there. The food is not very good and all activities are very restricted. Some inmates are also very violent, which creates an atmosphere of fear and bloodshed. It is not somewhere you want to be.

Therefore, get out of the gang while you can. You don't need to go around harming people. No good will come of that. Let that lifestyle go and realize you are better than that. Work on your own life and don't worry about what the next man or woman is doing. Live the best life you can and within the law. I have every confidence that you can do better than a life of crime. So, start making those changes today. Even if your family has to move to another place, it is worth it. Please do not end up one of the statistics of either being dead or in jail.

For the gang members who refuse to change and not leave crime alone, I advocate police round ups and sending them to correctional facilities if they are of age. If they are underage, send them to military type schools or juvenile dentition centers, where they can be taught discipline and receive counseling by psychologists to help change their criminal mentality. It will save the lives of innocent people who could become victims of knife crime. It can also save the lives of young gang members by reforming them with proven techniques and even teaching them a trade such as plumbing or mechanics to enable them to obtain gainful employment.

These gang killings cannot continue. I'm reading about them on a daily basis in Western nations and a lot of innocent lives are being lost. It is particularly hard to read about kids getting killed. Some of the victims are not even in their teen years yet. I've read about 11-year-olds and 12-years-old being stabbed to death by gang members. I've read about underage girls being raped by gang members who are also teens or in their early twenties. What are we becoming as a world that this is happening. We can do better than this. We must keep our humanity.
