R Kelly Arrested And Jailed For Failure To Pay
$161,663 In Child Support (Video)
March 7. 2019
Trouble prone, fallen 52-year-old singer, R Kelly, was arrested
again yesterday. A week ago he was indicted and arrested on 10
counts of aggravated sexual abuse against underage girls. This
week he was arrested for failure to pay $161,663 in child
support payments to his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, who is the mother
of his three children.
The singer was taken into custody yesterday after a child
support hearing for being months in arrears. Kelly will remain
behind bars until he pays the amount owed. Last week Kelly could
not pay the 10% of his $1,000,000 bond to get out of jail. He
remained behind bars for three days, until a friend posted the
$100,000 on his behalf.
Kelly's lawyer, Steven Greenberg has changed his tune, as last
week he stated the singer is not broke. However, yesterday
Greenberg stated R Kelly, "really doesn't have any money at this
point." This confirms my claims that Kelly is going broke. He
would not elect to spend time behind bars rather than pay his
bond and child support.
Kelly was under the assumption that if he paid $50,000 to his
ex-wife and agreed to an installment plan to pay the remaining
amount owed over time, he would not be arrested. However, he was
wrong. The judge in the case promptly ordered that Kelly be put
in jail until he pays the entire amount. The judge showed Kelly
no sympathy.
Kelly's funds have been dwindling for years, due to his foolish,
unlawful choices of raping underage girls, then facing lawsuits
and hefty settlements in the civil legal actions. Kelly is not
selling albums and singles like he used to and protests against
him have hampered his ability to conduct a successful concert
tour.
Kelly lost properties to foreclosures and has been evicted from
his longtime recording studio, he also illegally used to house
his underage victims. Kelly has been living in hotels, while
trying to maintain an air of wealth that simply is not there
anymore. First he stopped paying his mortgages, monthly
settlement payments to victims, child support, then recording
studio building lease. It fit the profile of someone going
broke.
Kelly will have to sell the remaining rights to any music he
still owns to pay his legal fees and for associated court costs
such as expert witnesses and private investigators. To get the
best defense costs millions, which Kelly simply does not have
anymore. This greatly increases his chances of going to prison.
To be frank, Kelly's lawyer has not been doing a good job. He
first stated there would be no charges or arrest. Then days
later Kelly was arrested. He stated Kelly was not broke. Now a
week later he is stating Kelly is broke. He let Kelly do that
very damaging CBS News interview with Gayle King this week,
which has given prosecutors so much more to work with, in their
attempts to put him away for the rest of his life.
To make matters worse, Kelly is also out of a record deal and
with the heat that's on him right now, most labels will refuse
to sign him to a new contract. There's no guarantee he will even
be free to record and release new material. Public opinion is
also so against Kelly, people really don't want to hear it.
