New York Police Union Slams Americans For
'Trying To Shame Us' And 'Treating Us Like Animals' In The Fallout
From George Floyd's Murder By Officer Derek Chauvin (Videos)June 9. 2020
The president of the New York Police Benevolent
Association, Mike O’Meara, angrily spoke out at a press conference
today, slamming the American public for criticizing cops in the fall
out of George Floyd's murder by Minnesota cop, Derek Chauvin, and
three of his colleagues.
O'Meara also slammed the U.S. Congress and the press
for treating police like "animals and thugs." O'Meara stated,
"Everybody’s trying to shame us. The legislators. The press.
Everybody’s trying to shame us into being embarrassed of our
profession."
Examples of police brutality during current protests:
O'Meara bitterly complained that cops have been left
out of the conversation, regarding Americans (and the world) rising
up against police brutality. However, many police officials have
spoken on television across America about the current protests
regarding police brutality. What made the problem worse is some
officers violently attacking protestors.
It is undeniable there is a problem regarding how
many police officers treat minorities in America. The worst
treatment is consistently reserved for black people. There are far
too many police brutality cases for the problem to be ignored or
called an isolated incident. These issues must be addressed and as
I've written for 5-YEARS legislation needs to be put in place to
stop police brutality (Congress Needs To Enact Legislative Guidelines Regarding Police
Brutality).
