Black Chef Who Provided Free Meals For Police
Murdered In Ohio In Act Of Police Brutality (George Floyd Protests)June 2. 2020
David McAtee
African-American cook David McAtee was shot and
killed in Louisville, Ohio last night. McAtee, who was unarmed, is
known for giving free meals to police officers. However, he was shot
and killed by cops during the protesting of the murder of, George
Floyd, who was the victim of a police brutality based killing.
Reports indicate police officers were not wearing
their bodycams when they opened fire on protestors. Police state
they were fired upon by protestors and video in and outside a
business reveals McAtee fired at officers. Members of the public who
were protesting dispute this claim. The Mayor of Louisville, Greg
Fischer, fired the chief of police, Steve Conrad, due to the fact
officers did not turn on their bodycams during the shooting death of
McAtee.
This incident comes weeks after the killing of
26-year-old African-American paramedic, Breonna Taylor, who was shot
to death in her Ohio apartment while she slept, in an act of police
brutality. No due diligence was done and no patience exercised. Only
for police to state after the murder that it was a case of mistaken
identity.

Louisville police chief fired after fatal shooting of black
business owner
Updated on: June 2, 2020 / 8:15 PM - Louisville
Mayor Greg Fischer on Monday announced the firing of the city's
police chief after learning that two officers involved in the fatal
shooting of a black business owner had not activated their body
cameras. Fischer said both officers, Kate Crews and Allen Austin,
have been put on administrative leave.
"This type of institutional failure will not be
tolerated. Accordingly, I have relieved Steve Conrad of his duties
as chief of Louisville Metro Police Department," Fischer said in a
news conference. The family of the victim identified him as David
McAtee, who owned a barbecue near the shooting scene, CBS affiliate
WLKY-TV reported. The mayor called McAtee a wonderful citizen, and
said many knew him as "the BBQ Man."
Police said the shooting happened when officers
tried to break up a large group of protesters. Police said video
from inside and outside McAtee's business shows him firing a weapon
before he was killed. Officials said it appears that McAtee fired
the first shot and that an investigation is ongoing. It is unclear
what sparked the confrontation...
