La Reid's New Music Company HitCo Is A Pale Imitation Of Former Label LaFace Records

Former Epic/Sony Music CEO, Antonio "L.A." Reid, who is married to second wife, Erica Reid, was fired from the company in 2016 for sexually harassing his secretary and embezzling money from the company. Reid's conduct resulted in a lawsuit from his secretary, who complained that Epic/Sony Music executives ignored her complaints about his sexual misconduct, leaving her no choice but to sue.

Others in the industry came forwards stating Reid has a long history of sexually harassing women in his employ, in conduct that stretches all the way back to the 1980s at Laface Records (co-owned by songwriter/producer, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds) to his next job running the den of sexual harassment at Def Jam Recordings.

Reid fancies himself a ladies man. As stated on the site previously, I met one of his relatives in Atlanta in the late 1990s, who is a cousin of one of my friends, and she told me he is very promiscuous, which ruined his first marriage to singer Perri "Pebbles" Reid. He had a lot of mistresses during his marriage, including TLC singer Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas.

Since his high profile dismissal from Epic/Sony Music, Reid has tried to land on his feet by raising $75,000,000 with his new partner, Charles Goldstruck, for his new label and music publishing company, HitCo. This past weekend, I heard items on Instagram by HitCo artists and it was not good. The artists Reid and his sons have signed pale in comparison to the talent that was on LaFace Records. The music coming out of HitCo is also foul, vulgar, profane, ignorant, violent, misogynistic and setting a terrible example for impressionable audiences.

One of Reid's new artists has based her image and sound off LaFace Records' group TLC. She is trying to be like TLC and even resembles its singer Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins. However, her music is completely explicit, with lyrics such as "fu*k that ni*ga" and she also has lyrics that contain violence about shooting people. This is much of what HitCo is about in artist after artist promoting items on Instagram. That is not the excellence and a massive step down from what LaFace was to music.
