Florida governor Ron DeSantis needs to get the entire State of Florida in compliance with medical guidelines on coronavirus

The state of Florida has seen a huge spike in coronavirus cases. Florida is now averaging 6,000 new cases per day. The southern part of the state recently reopened. However, the northern part of the state reopened weeks prior. Now all the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are fill in Florida.

The northern part of the state contains pockets where people started going back to the beach weeks ago, not social distancing or wearing masks. South Florida has been making a very diligent effort since March to social distance, use hand sanitizers and wear masks. Since March you could not enter a store in Miami without wearing a mask and social distancing. Signs are posted everywhere to this effect and people have been complying.

However, this was not the rule for the entire state. Some other parts of the state are just enforcing the mask rule this week. North and central Florida needs to come into complete compliance with national medical and scientific guidelines on the virus.

Governor DeSantis needs to enforce the mask rule and social distancing for the entire state of Florida. The consequences of not doing so are too terrible. A second wave of a massive magnitude will inflict a significant amount of damage.

People who don't social distance or wear masks are also traveling all over the state now that everything has reopened, which is spreading the virus. People are also coming to Florida from other parts of America, as it is summer.

Florida is now the epicenter of the coronavirus in America, having taken over from New York that was so hard hit. This is very alarming considering the number of elderly people who retire and move to Florida, as older people are most vulnerable to coronavirus.

The foregoing is not stated to insult anyone, but to emphasize a point. Everyone needs to be on the same page. The quicker the virus is contained and controlled (and even better, cured), the sooner things can get back to normal. Until then, it will impact everything from healthcare to the economy.
