Diddy Loses Defamation Case Against NBC Over Documentary 'The Making Of A Bad Boy' And Is Ordered To Pay $478,000 In Legal Fees

October 7. 2026

Diddy

Diddy filed a defamation lawsuit against the NBC television network (NBCUniversal) on February 12, 2025, for $100,000,000 alleging they had defamed him with their unflattering documentary "The Making of a Bad Boy." Embarrassed by the doco, which was released during his criminal trial on sex trafficking related charges, Diddy ran to his lawyers to file suit against NBC.

Diddy's lawsuit stated the documentary, "Falsely, recklessly, and maliciously" referred to Diddy as a "serial murderer" and "sex trafficker." The documentary contained statements implicating Diddy in the deaths of ex-girlfriend Kim Porter, his recording artist the Notorious B.I.G., former boss Andre Harrell, former co-worker and music collaborator Heavy D, and "the attempted murder of Al B. Sure."

Diddy's case was recently dismissed by Judge Phaedra F. Perry-Bond. Cover Media reported, "The judge threw out Combs' lawsuit under New York's anti-SLAPP statute, which quickly disposes of meritless cases that threaten First Amendment-protected free speech."

Diddy is already struggling to pay all his legal fees. Diddy's criminal trial cost him several million dollars in legal fees. Diddy has also been sued dozens of legal cases accusing him of rape, sexual assault, and assault, among other allegations. Diddy also has seven children he supports and their mothers. He maintains two large mansions and a property in New York City.

Diddy has over a dozen companies and employees who need to be paid (some have publicly stated Diddy has stopped paying them). Diddy is hemorrhaging millions of dollars per month with his income sources having dried up (his businesses have been losing money and his main source of income regarding the entertainment industry is his music publishing, with many of his artists stating he cheated them out of their royalties).
