U.S. Foreclosures Hitting Stars "Stars Are
June 5. 2008
Ed McMahon and wife Paris Hilton
ripped off a UB40 song and renamed
it "Stars Are Blind." So in honor of her Sidebar: by the way, Paris, where's that follow up album you promised after shaky Warner gave you the boot. You can name it "Life in the Pen." But back to the article. The terrible mortgage crisis that has swept America is now affecting stars. Last month former lesbian Anne Heche declared to a judge that she is having money problems, making it difficult for her to keep up with her mortgage payments.
This month, entertainment industry veteran Ed McMahon and separately boxer Evan Holyfield are now in foreclosure and face losing their homes of many years.
Several years ago, I saw Ed McMahon on television giving a tour of his home. It is a very nice property with a beautiful front door. I hope he does not lose said property to foreclosure. News shows have stated he is having difficulty selling the home because Britney Spears is one of his neighbors.
Boxer Evander Holyfield's house in Atlanta has been quite a local attraction for years. About 10 years ago we were in Fayette, Georgia (ok, we were lost - I've told you guys before, every street in Atlanta is named Peachtree).
It was Christmas time, and off a main thoroughfare, we saw this massive house, beautifully decorated in lights. It was breathtaking.
Holyfield now faces losing the house to a July 1 foreclosure auction. I hope he will be able to come up with the money in time or sell it. Holyfield Estate In Foreclosure FAYETTEVILLE, Ga., June 5, 2008 - Former boxing champ Evander Holyfield, shown here in an undated publicity photo. (AP Graphics Bank) (CBS/AP) Former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield appears to be having financial problems, WGCL-TV in Atlanta reports. A legal notice that appeared in a local newspaper showed his Fayette County estate is under foreclosure. The home worth an estimated $10 million is set to be auctioned by a bank on July 1. Ed McMahon's home in danger of foreclosure LOS ANGELES (AP) — For years, Ed McMahon promised wealth, comfort and happiness as a pitchman for the American Family Publishers' sweepstakes. Now, he could use some of that cash himself. The former sidekick to Johnny Carson on the "Tonight" show is in danger of losing his multimillion-dollar Beverly Hills home to foreclosure. Documents show that McMahon is nearly $644,000 behind in payments on a $4.8 million mortgage loan he got in 2005. Countrywide Home Loans Inc. filed the notice of default on Feb. 28, with the amount owed to "increase until your account becomes current," according to documents obtained by Celebtv.com. |
