The World Health Organization States 'Extreme Vigilance' Is Needed In Lifting Global Lockdowns During The Coronavirus Outbreak (Video)

May 12. 2020

World Health Organization (WHO) director general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated global lockdowns during the coronavirus outbreak should be lifted with caution and "vigilance." The coronavirus (Covid-19) has killed 286,000 people worldwide. Currently there are over 4,180,000 active cases of coronavirus globally. 1,460,000 people have recovered.

World Health Organization's Dr. Mike Ryan stated, "Now we are seeing some hope as many countries exit these so-called lockdowns. If the disease persists at a low level without the capacity to investigate clusters, there’s always the risk that the virus takes off again. It’s really important that we hold up examples of countries who are willing to open their eyes and willing to keep their eyes open."

Indeed, last week China, Germany and South Korea reported clusters of new coronavirus cases, prompting new lockdowns in said areas. China, Germany and South Korea have handled the outbreak well and hope to manage the current clusters in a manner that will save lives.

America and Britain have not successfully managed the coronavirus outbreak, with the two nations leading in the death rates globally. Currently, America has over 80,000 coronavirus deaths. Britain has over 31,000 coronavirus deaths. These numbers do not include nursing homes in America or care homes in Britain, where the elderly are most vulnerable.

It is all a matter of great concern. There needs to be more testing and tracing. There also needs to be more arrests of people who defy government mandates regarding public safety and personal hygiene, such as not wearing masks in establishments, deliberately coughing on others and not practicing social distancing (especially as it relates to stores and offices).

People who violate these rules should be placed on house arrest for at least one month or placed in jail if it is more expedient and conducive to the public good. Not only are they endangering their lives, they are also jeopardizing public health. This is a matter of life and death. As stated previously, a second wave is coming.

Germany earlier reported an acceleration in new coronavirus infections after it took early steps to ease its lockdown. South Korea, another country that had succeeded in limiting virus infections, has seen a new outbreak in nightclubs.

“Now we are seeing some hope as many countries exit these so-called lockdowns,” Dr Mike Ryan, head of the WHO’s emergencies programme, told an online news briefing. But he added that “extreme vigilance is required”...
