Senator Elizabeth Warren Slammed By The Native American Cherokee Tribe For Cultural Appropriation In President Donald Trump Challenge Gone Wrong

October 15. 2018

Elizabeth Warren

U.S Senator Elizabeth Warren has been in a war of words with President Donald Trump regarding her ancestry. Warren publicly stated she is native American from the Cherokee tribe. Months ago, many people, including me, teased Warren over her claims of being native American, as she has blonde hair, blue eyes, white skin and European facial features, indicating her more recent ancestors of the past few generations are Anglo-Saxon.

Trump joked about her claims of being native American and began calling Warren “Pocahontas” much to her annoyance. Trump stated he would give $1,000,000 to the charity of her choice if she took a DNA test he administered. Trump also stated he would not want to test her, labeling her unpleasant. There is no love lost between them. They have been throwing insults at each other for months.

Previously, Warren has spoken of her parents marriage, stating it caused a rift within their families, due to her mother being Cherokee. However, the dubious DNA test she had conducted, which did not use native American genetic samples, revealed she is only .1% native American. Warren announced the results today as a triumph, but it has been met with negativity. Some even stated it proves Warren lied about her ancestry, as the percentage of native American DNA in her modern day line is so small.

To be considered a native American, one must have said ancestry on both sides and it can only go back as far as one’s great-great grandparent. In Warren’s case it is on one side of her family and it is from her grandfather 10 generations ago. That’s 10 ancestors back in history on one side of the family. To put it in perspective, a press outlet reported Warren has less native American ancestry that millions of white Americans. It’s a situation similar to what you find in Britain where millions of people are related to the royal family, but are not royalty and can make no claims to it.

Another example would be a person having 19 black ancestors and 1 white ancestor, but claiming to be white. It doesn’t work that way. That person would be overwhelmingly black. Much like Warren is overwhelmingly white. In fact, Warren’s great-grandfather is a Englishman who immigrated to America. To me she has the features of an Anglo-Saxon Briton.

Some have been slamming Warren, because due to affirmative action, she was given a job as a professor at Harvard, which called for a native American to fill the post. An actual native American lost out on the well paying job, due to Warren’s fraudulent claims regarding her ancestry. The native American people are also given other compensatory benefits in America, due to having been the original Americans whose land was taken from them. Today, the official Cherokee Nation has slammed Warren regarding her behavior:

“A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America. Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation. Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, who ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is prove. Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage.” – Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin, Jr.

‘MOCKERY’: Cherokee Nation Issues Statement on Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s DNA Test Results

October 15, 2018 - Sen. Elizabeth Warren released Monday the results of a DNA test allegedly showing she has a very distant Native American ancestry. Warren released the results of a genetic ancestry analysis conducted by Stanford University professor Carlos D. Bustamante to The Boston Globe, which shows with 99% certainty that Warren is 95% European. Further evidence shows this additional 5% ancestry is ‘likely Native American.’...
