While, I think Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is an intelligent man, the McCain camp sure is using his fame against him, in trying to make the public pejoratively associate him with celebrities, who usually are not considered accomplished people.

The public often considers celebrities vain and vapid, only good for one thing, entertainment. This is evidenced by the last election, where the American public bristled at Hollywood celebrities getting political, forcing their views on others, which backfired.

Let's face it, what does the word "celebrity" mean? A person that is famous. It does not imply decency, competence or intelligence. Today, you don't need talent or intelligence to get that recognition. Up until the 80's, you not only had to be photogenic, but talented, smart and well spoken to be a superstar.

While, there are a few smart stars out there, on the whole, celebrities are not considered intelligent, thanks to people like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, to name a few.

Under the Constitution, every citizen has the right to get politically involved. However, politics is serious business, therefore it doesn't mean when Hollywood speaks in this realm the nation listens - it usually doesn't.

Seeking to further push the notion that Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, is an out-of-touch empty-headed celebrity, the Republican National Committee this morning launched a new interactive website -- where users can guess whether Obama or a member of the glitterati uttered a particular quote.

For instance: "You have only a short period of time in your life to make your mark, and I'm there now." Was that said by Obama, Madonna, David Beckham or George Clooney?
