Kenneth Petty, 40, the husband of rapper Nicki Minaj, was arrested by police yesterday for failing to register as a sex offender. He was held on $100,000 bond. Shortly after Petty made bond, was released and ordered to wear an ankle monitor and refrain from drug use.

Petty moved from New York to California last year but did not comply with court orders, regarding registering in the state he now resides. Petty was arrested in 1994 for first degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl. Petty was also 16-years-of age at the time. In 1995 Petty was convicted of the charge and spent 4-years in prison.

On a related note, Minaj's brother, Jelani Maraj, was convicted of predatory sexual assault, for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter in Long Island, New York. Maraj was sentenced to 25-years to life in prison for his crimes.
