Minnesota Erupts In Violence Over The Murder Of George Floyd (Videos)

May 28. 2020

Violence has erupted in America over the murder of 46-year-old African-American man, George Floyd, by racist police officer, Derek Chauvin. The incident occurred on Monday in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Officer Chauvin kneeled on the neck of Floyd, after he was dragged from a local store, suspected of using counterfeit money, in the sum of $20 to pay for cigarettes.

Chauvin kneeled on Floyd's neck with extreme force and a nasty, cold smirk on his face. Floyd pleaded for relief, repeatedly stating, "I can't breathe." Chauvin and three of his fellow police officers ignored Floyd's cries. As Floyd began losing consciousness, he began calling for his deceased mother. Floyd died after Chauvin unconscionably kneeled on his neck for 9-minutes. It is infuriating. Chauvin's conduct is evil.

Initially peaceful protests took place in the fallout of Floyd's death. However, the protests recently gave way to violence in Minneapolis and St. Paul. People have been engaging in property destruction and looting. Protestors also went to the home of Chauvin, scrawled the word "murder" on the driveway and block food delivery.

A local protestor was also shot and killed by a pawn shop owner, who thought he was breaking into his property. In the face of the widespread violence the National Guard has been dispatched in Minnesota.

Officer Chauvin has been fired, as has his three fellow officers, who stood by and watched as Floyd was murdered. Prosecutors in Minneapolis are mulling whether to file criminal charges, which really should be a no-brainer. Chauvin deserves life in prison. Chauvin's fellow officers deserve accessory to murder charges.

Officer Chauvin has a history of engaging in police brutality. In 2008 Chauvin burst into the home of Ira Toles, did not identify himself and began striking him without warning. This prompted Toles to fight back and Chauvin shot him in the stomach.

Minneapolis Man: Cop Who Kneeled on George Floyd ‘Tried to Kill Me’ in 2008

Updated May. 28, 2020 3:58PM ET Published May. 28, 2020 12:27PM ET - Ira Latrell Toles didn’t immediately recognize Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin in the now-viral video of him holding his knee on George Floyd’s neck as the handcuffed black man repeatedly told him he couldn’t breathe.

But when news outlets identified the officers involved, Toles, 33, realized the man responsible for Floyd’s death was the same police officer who barged into his home and beat him up in the bathroom before shooting him in the stomach 12 years earlier while responding to a domestic violence call.

“The officer that killed that guy might be the one that shot me,” Toles texted his sister on Tuesday night, according to messages shared with The Daily Beast. “They said his last name and I think it was him.” “It’s him,” his sister instantly replied.

On Tuesday, Chauvin was one of four officers fired for his involvement in Floyd’s death, which has sparked protests across the country and calls for a federal hate-crime investigation. Local outlets reported that Chauvin was the officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck for several minutes—as the 46-year-old pleaded, “I’m about to die.” Floyd had no pulse when he was finally put into an ambulance...
