Mariah Carey's Stalled "E=MC2" CD Sales

Sales of Mariah Carey’s "E=MC2" CD started off fairly well with 450,000 copies sold, but then quickly fizzled. The second and third singles have bombed as well. This is a major sales fall off. Hmm what's changed.

A few months ago, I wondered out loud about her numbers being inflated, as they didn't appear accurate. Her first week sales seemed high and the mere fact that she hasn't sustained a certain level of sales, says a lot.

Her previous release “The Emancipation Of Mimi” sold 8 million copies, while this new album has seriously stalled at 1 million units sold, after 4 months of release.

To debut with 450,000 copies sold in the first week in America, as her new CD did, she should have sold about 2.5 - 3 million CDs in the U.S. by now, not 1 million units.

I for one don't like the CD. It's bland and very derivative. Not to mention, the publicity stunt of a wedding to Nick Cannon was so crazy, it made the first one to Tommy Mottola, a man twice her age, whose marriage she broke up to become famous, look normal by comparison, as the public later found out, it was not based in love.

After all, who spends their honeymoon alone, crying on a beach, which she admitted. Most people spend their honeymoon doing other things.

However, Mariah can look at the bright side regarding her CD. At least she didn't get owned on the charts by the Chipmunks.
