Madoff Investor Commits Suicide

December 23. 2008

Bernard Madoff

The Madoff case is starting to resemble the Great Depression, where investment company executives killed themselves when they lost all their money.

Today, the body of businessman Thierry Magon de La Villehuchet was found in his office after an apparent suicide.

He had placed $1.4 billion of his clients’ money and his own with Madoff, the disgraced hedge fund manager that ran a giant Ponzi scheme, which erased $50 billion dollars in wealth.

It is very difficult losing all one has, but taking your life is not the answer. You can rebuild again.

The government is mailing out forms to an estimated 10,000 Madoff victims that allows you to recoup some of your money. You can take those funds and rebuild your fortune from the ground up.

Do not take your life over this.

Try not to let the holidays depress you. Be hopeful that the New Year will bring opportunities that will get you back on your feet again financially.

Madoff Business Associate De La Villehuchet Found Dead

Thierry Magon de La Villehuchet, a well-respected French investment fund manager who put at least $1.4 billion of his clients' money -- and perhaps much or all of his own wealth -- in the hands of alleged Ponzi scheme operator Bernard Madoff, appears to have committed suicide in his Manhattan office, according to police officials.

De La Villehuchet, 65, was found inside the Madison Avenue offices of his investment group, Access International Advisors, at about 7:30 a.m. this morning and pronounced dead at 8 a.m., according to the New York City Medical Examiner.

He was found seated at his desk, where he apparently had bled to death after taking an overdose of sleeping pills and then slashing his arm, bicep and his wrists, police said.
