Disgraced Hollywood Movie Producer Harvey Weinstein Indicted On 11 Criminal Charges And Is Set To Go On Trial Again For Rape

Convicted felon and disgraced Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein, is set to go on trial again for rape. Weinstein was hit with 11 new charges in Los Angeles, after being convicted of rape last year in New York. Weinstein is currently behind bars in New York on a 23-year prison sentence.

The new charges in Los Angeles have rattled Weinstein, whose attorneys have filed court documents against his extradition to California, citing health reasons. Weinstein is claiming he is partially blind and has heart problems.

Variety magazine reported, "Effman also argued that Weinstein is suffering from a variety of medical problems, which require extensive treatments. He said that Weinstein has from dental problems, and has had four teeth removed. Effman said he is also experiencing cardiac issues, back issues, sleep apnea, and is nearly legally blind."

The Wrap website stated, "Weinstein’s next extradition hearing is scheduled for April 30. In Los Angeles, he is charged with 11 felony counts, including for rape and sexual battery, for five incidents that took place between 2004 and 2013. If convicted, he faces up to 140 years to life in prison."

Variety magazine is also reporting, "At a press conference following the proceeding, Erie County D.A. John Flynn accused Effman of engaging in a 'sandbag move. Obviously it’s a stalling technique,' Flynn said. 'He wants to keep his guy here as long as possible, and prevent him from going to California to face what he’s accused of out there.'"

Weinstein is dreading the prospect of going on trial again. His first trial was so humiliating. So many embarrassing details came out his terrible behavior. His ego couldn't stand it and does not want to face that again. However, he raped women (and robbed people in acts of financial fraud). He should pay for his crimes.

Harvey Weinstein being taken away after conviction

This is a man who was grabbing, groping, flinging and slapping women across the face who wouldn't submit, before he raped them. He raped women who wanted nothing to do with him. He refused to hear the word no, using threats and violence to get what he wanted, and he must be held accountable for that. Weinstein called himself god but he is actually a devil.

At the end of the day none of Weinstein's awful behavior was necessary or legal. He didn't have to do these things. He chose to be very evil and cruel to others, and has been caught. He must face the consequences of his criminal actions, much like others in Hollywood will under similar circumstances. Weinstein is just the beginning. The criminals in Hollywood should be afraid. Be very afraid.

Harvey Weinstein Indicted on 11 Sexual Assault Charges in Los Angeles

The disgraced mogul’s extradition to California was delayed again on Monday

J. Clara Chan | April 12, 2021 @ 12:19 PM Last Updated: April 12, 2021 @ 1:38 PM - Harvey Weinstein was indicted on 11 sexual assault charges in Los Angeles, his attorney Norman Effman revealed at an extradition hearing for the former producer in Erie County on Monday.

Though still under seal, Effman said the indictment is “very similar to the original felony complaint but not identical” because one of the charges was “changed somewhat, narrowing the time period.” A spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office declined to comment...

Weinstein Attorneys Object to Paperwork in Los Angeles Extradition

Monday’s hearing was only the second time Weinstein has appeared in court since being sentenced in March 2020 to 23 years in prison. He appeared remotely from Wende Correctional Facility, the maximum security state prison where he is serving his sentence. He used a walker, but smiled while chatting with his attorneys before the hearing. He answered a few simple questions from the judge but otherwise did not participate in the proceeding.

Los Angeles prosecutors are seeking to have Weinstein brought to Los Angeles for trial on 11 charges, which could bring up to 140 years in prison. The extradition process has been delayed several times over the last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the latest wrinkle, L.A. prosecutors have filed a sealed indictment against Weinstein. The indictment mirrors the charges that have already been filed, but it allows prosecutors to avoid an evidentiary hearing, which would slow down the process. Once Weinstein is brought to L.A., prosecutors would have 120 days to bring him to trial...
