Bobby Blames Whitney For His Cocaine Addiction

Round Two! There's Nothing Like Black People Fighting (Kidding)

April 3. 2008

Singer Bobby Brown has slammed his ex-wife, vocalist Whitney Houston, for allegedly getting him hooked on cocaine. While, I wasn't there and can't testify firsthand, I certainly remember the press clippings from the early 90's that said Whitney unsuccessfully tried to get you into rehab before you two got married, and in trying to clean you up, succumbed to the lure of drugs as well.

I also remember a press clip where your bandmate, Michael Bivins, of New Edition, was reportedly upset that your mother went on the air in Boston complaining that he got you hooked on drugs as a teen.

Bivins denied the allegation. Since Bivins doesn't look strung out, I have to wonder. Not to say he couldn't have taken something, but he really doesn't have that image, especially to the extent you do. What really happened here.

Also, it was after a few years of marriage to you that Whitney Houston began showing up late for gigs and events, or not at all, due to her addiction spiraling out of control. Before she was punctual in these matters.

Houston has responded to Brown's claims saying, "Miss Houston is sad that Bobby feels he need to say such things but she chooses to take the high road and will not speak badly about the father of her child even if it’s to set the record straight." At this point, the important thing is for everyone to get clean and sober. Laying blame at this late juncture really will not accomplish much.

'Whitney Drove Me To Drugs'

April 3, 2008 -- WITH an ex-husband like Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston doesn't need enemies. In his upcoming autobiography, Brown blows the lid on his wildly dysfunctional marriage to the troubled, Grammy-winning diva, suggesting that she drove him into a nightmare of drug addiction.

"I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice," Brown writes in "Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But," out next month. "At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine."
