AP: America Spiraling Out Of Control

why oh why?

President Bush has lost control of the car that is America. Either that or he fell asleep at the wheel at a crucial time in the nation's history, causing it to hit unprecedented lows that Americans are angry about, as it was all avoidable.

I think President Bush is experiencing a brain freeze. That's the only explanation for his inaction, inability to combat what's happening economically and socially, and general sense of bewilderment.

Summer floods are one of many natural disasters that have hit America.

The next president is going to have his work cut out for him in gaining control of the above mentioned proverbial car that is careening out of control - provided he can afford the gas, pardon the pun (who can anymore). An AP article summarized the mood of the nation quite poignantly:

Sat Jun 21, 3:14 PM ET - Midwestern levees are bursting. Polar bears are adrift. Gas prices are skyrocketing. Home values are abysmal. Air fares, college tuition and health care border on unaffordable. Wars without end rage in Iraq, Afghanistan and against terrorism.

An ABC News-Washington Post survey put that figure at 14 percent, tying the low in more than three decades of taking soundings on the national mood...
