The second presidential debate during the 2008 U.S. election, held yesterday in Nashville, drew 63.2 million viewers. Most polls indicate Democrat Barack Obama won the debate.

Curiously enough, last night’s debate failed to garner more ratings than the vice presidential debate last week that featured Republican, Sarah Palin, who was the main attraction and Democrat, Joe Biden, the political veteran. I think many people were interested in finding out about Palin, the moose hunting hockey mom from Alaska, hence the ratings coup.

Oct 8, 2008 - The second presidential debate Tuesday night (Oct. 8) between contenders Senators John McCain and Barack Obama drew a larger audience than the first, which aired on a Friday.

According to Nielsen, 63.2 million viewers tuned in to one of the 11 networks that carried the debate, including ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, BBC-America, CNBC, CNN, FOX News Channel, and MSNBC. The first debate drew an audience of 52.4 million...
