Chief Justice Roberts at Obama's swearing in: I swear...I don't know what I'm doing

Vice president Joe Biden took a verbal shot at Supreme Court Chief Justice, Jon Roberts, today, for flubbing President Barack Obama's oath of office.

When called upon by Obama to swear-in White House staff today, Biden comically remarked, "My memory is not as good as Chief Justice Roberts." 

Experts swear he must get it right

...Charles Cooper, head of the Justice Department's office of legal counsel under president Ronald Reagan, said that the oath is mandatory, that an incorrect recitation should be fixed and that he would be surprised if it had not already been readministered. Akhil Reed Amar, a Yale constitutional law professor, said: "Out of a super-abundance of caution, perhaps he should do it again."

Jonathan Turley, a constitutional law professor at George Washington University, said he should probably go ahead and take the oath again. "If he doesn't, there are going to be people who for the next four years are going to argue that he didn't meet the constitutional standard," he said...

21 Jan 2009 - Barack Obama should take the oath of office again after Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts made him fluff one of the lines, US constitution experts have claimed. Failure to do so could lead to four years of arguments or legal writs by extremists that Mr Obama is not a legitimate president. Mr Roberts' gaffe, which led him to be dubbed the "oaf of office" by one US newspaper, came when he pronounced crucial words in the wrong order...
