Tsvangirai Car Accident Branded Suspicious March 7. 2009
Morgan Tsvangirai and wife Susan This is a follow up on yesterday's article Morgan Tsvangirai's Wife Dies In Accident. Today, many published articles are questioning the same thing I did yesterday - was the car collision that killed the Prime Minister's wife Susan, truly an accident or assassination attempt. The so-called accident is being treated with suspicion for a number of reasons. According to press outlets, Tsvangirai also stated today that the truck "deliberately" swerved towards them before smashing into their vehicle. Tsvangirai car crash: Accident or assassination attempt? By Scott Baldauf | Staff writer 03.07.09 - JOHANNESBURG – The fatal car accident on Friday night, killing the wife of Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and injuring Mr. Tsvangirai himself, has left many Zimbabweans suspicious about whether this was truly an accident, or an attempted assassination. Tsvangirai himself says the truck that sideswiped his car, drove “deliberately” at him. But members of his Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party say that they are withholding judgment as they carry out their own investigation in parallel with that of the police. Photographer arrested at crash scene Not surprisingly, speculation as to the cause of the accident that killed Susan Tsvangirai is rife. Adding to the concerns that this may have been a deliberate attempt on Morgan Tsvangirai’s life is the fact that someone who was taking video footage at the crash site, was immediately arrested. Deon Theron is the Vice President of the Commercial Farmers Union and lives near the scene of the accident. It’s being reported that he arrived quite soon after the crash and was taking video footage of the overturned vehicle. Police immediately arrested him, confiscated his camera and took him to the Beatrice Police Station. |
