Recently, Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball player, Tristan Thompson, has been at the center of a cheating scandal regarding girlfriend and reality star, Khloe Kardashian. The website TMZ has been stalking Thompson for months, quietly taking photos of him entering hotels with different women in Los Angeles, New York and Washington, all while pregnant girlfriend, Kardashian, is at his home in Ohio.

Kardashian had cheated with Thompson when his ex-girlfriend, Jordan Craig, was pregnant, causing her fetal distress during her pregnancy, in acts that have now come back to Khloe. You reap what you sow. Some are slamming Thompson for his conduct (and cheating is wrong), but this is standard behavior among many NBA stars. They routinely cheat on girlfriends and wives.

Sometimes it turns really ugly, as in the case of former Los Angeles Laker, Kobe Bryant, where the married athlete was accused of rape, but later cleared of the charges. Doctors also discovered the woman who made the rape claim had the sperm of three men she knew inside her on the day she said she was raped. Previously, former Los Angeles Laker, Lamar Odom cheated on then wife, Khloe Kardashian, with a host of groupies and prostitutes. He overdosed on drugs while having sex with two women in a brothel.

One of the most famous cases of cheating in the NBA is married basketball player, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, who contracted HIV from a groupie and passed the deadly STD on to many women as well. There are other NBA stars who contracted HIV but kept their diagnosis private. Much like there are Hollywood stars with HIV, who have not disclosed their medical status.

Many women throw themselves at rich and famous men and the temptation proves too much in some cases. As social networking has become more popular, famous athletes are using it to hook up with women they don't know for sex, which is very dangerous. There is the risk of sexually transmitted diseases (HIV, herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis), robbery or violence while the man in asleep in the hotel room, unplanned pregnancies with the goal of big child support checks, embarrassing tell-alls and blackmail.
