The accident occurred at "Westlake Boulevard north of Skelton Canyon Circle" in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Westlake Village. The car turned a corner, accelerated and slammed into a tree, which split the vehicle in half. Then the vehicle burst into flames. Both occupants of the car died at the scene of the crash.

2-years ago a story was heavily featured on local news channels in Miami, regarding two 18-year-old high school boys dying in a fiery crash while driving a Tesla. The car was maneuvering around a curve, but then suddenly accelerated, then slammed into a wall and burst into flames. Speeding coupled with Tesla battery issues caused the deadly crash. A news reported stated, "According to investigators, the electric vehicle's design shares some of the blame in the fatal crash that happened in May 2018."

Frank Ocean’s younger brother, Ryan Breaux, reportedly killed in Thousand Oaks car crash

Aug. 3, 2020 11:01 AM - A fiery crash early Sunday in Thousand Oaks left two people dead, and social media accounts indicate one of the victims was the younger brother of singer Frank Ocean.

Neither family members nor authorities have confirmed his identity, but friends on social media identified 18-year-old Ryan Breaux as one of two young men who died in the single-car crash. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office was not immediately available for comment Monday.

Cal State Northridge identified the other victim as Ezekial Bishop, a track and field student-athlete who enrolled in the university for the spring 2020 semester. “We are deeply saddened to hear of Ezekial’s passing,” athletic director Mike Izzi said in a post on the school’s website. “Any loss of life is tragic, and to lose someone so young is absolutely heartbreaking. Final report from high-speed Tesla crash indicates damaged battery caused deadly fire

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The final report has been released on the fiery Tesla crash that killed two teenagers in Fort Lauderdale last year. The driver, Barrett Riley, and a passenger, Edgar Monserratt Martinez, both 18 years old, were killed. A third teenager, Alexander Berry, who was a passenger in the back seat, survived after being ejected from the car.

According to investigators, the electric vehicle's design shares some of the blame in the fatal crash that happened in May 2018. Several other key points were made in the report, such as both the driver and front seat passenger died of thermal injuries, meaning they were killed in the fire that was a result of the crash, not the crash itself.

The report states that contributing to the severity of the injuries was the post-crash fire that originated in the vehicle's crash-damaged lithium-ion battery. According to the report, the teen driver’s father had the Tesla dealership put the car into loaner mode, which restricted the car’s maximum speed to 85 mph, in March.
