Successful African American Banking Vice President Killed In
Her California Home (Video)
August 13. 2021
Successful African-American banking
vice president, Michelle A. Avan, was found dead by
a family member in her Reseda, California home.
48-year-old Avan was a senior vice president at the
multi-billion dollar company Merrill Lynch. She was
a prominent businesswoman, who was featured in
Essence magazine.
Last week relatives could not get in contact with
Avan over the
phone and went to check on her at the property.
Avan's son discovered her lifeless body in the
house. Avan had been beaten to death, sustaining
noticeable injuries to her face. Police and
paramedics were summoned, who rushed her to the
hospital, but she was pronounced dead.
Michelle Avan
Avan was killed in her
California home, by co-worker and ex-boyfriend,
52-year-old Anthony Duwayne Turner, whom neighbors
saw visiting her home on a regular basis.
Police stated he entered her home on August 3, 2021
and murdered Avan. Turner was arrested on August 6,
2021 for the crime. He is being held on $2,000,000
bail on charges of murder and first-degree robbery.
Turner pleaded not guilty.
Her son Trevor Avan stated, "My mom
was such a beautiful person, just so loving, if
there was anything that you needed from her, she
would be there. She didn't even get a chance to see
her granddaughter's second birthday because she was
taken from us."
Michelle Avan
Trevor Avan is also petitioning for
the charges to be upgraded. Trevor Avan stated, "In
this case, in this instance, Anthony Turner could
get as little as five years, which is completely
unacceptable for what I saw. My mom didn’t deserve
this, and nobody deserves this. And we want to make
sure that if anybody has to go through this, that
George Gascón does the right thing and files the
murder with special circumstances, giving Anthony
Turner life without parole."
Anthony Turner
You have to be careful when you are
successful and pretty. If you try to leave some of
these men for whatever reason, a few can't take it,
and will resort to the
if-I-can't-have-you-no-one-else-can crap. Some men
will literally act like they own you and the more
successful you are, the more resentful some of them
become if you break up with them.
Anthony Turner's mug shot
My condolences to Avan's family. She
was a lovely, vibrant woman. She did not deserve to lose her
life. For her to have come so far and accomplished
so much, then someone who
claimed to care about her, cut her life short, is
terrible. Turner should be sentenced to life in
prison. His crimes are premeditated and without
regard for human life.

11, 2021 / 06:45 PM PDT - The family of a bank executive found beaten to
death in her Reseda home is calling on Los Angeles
County District Attorney George Gascón to file
special a circumstances murder charge against the
suspect in the crime.
Anthony Duwayne Turner, 52, of Westchester, faces
murder and first-degree robbery charges in the
killing of 48-year-old Michelle Avan, but her family
says the DA’s office did not add the additional
charge, making him ineligible for a harsher sentence
if he is convicted.
Turner was described as Avan’s ex-boyfriend and
colleague who the family believed was a “stand-up
guy,” according to a statement from the family’s
spokesperson. “In contrast (her son) found his mother’s
lifeless body beaten and left alone by a man who is
a murderer, and the family does not want the photos
of Anthony Duwayne Turner in a suit and tie
perceived to be a stand-up guy to paint a different
picture,” the statement read, referring to a photo
of the suspect circulated in media reports...
