Soulja Boy Sentenced To 8-Months In Prison On Probation Violation,  Thieves Steal $500,000 In Jewelry From His House And His Hitco Record Deal Fizzles

Atlanta rapper and reality star, Soulja Boy, real name DeAndre Cortez, was arrested on a probation violations stemming from a 2014 weapons charge. Soulja failed to do the community service that was ordered by the court. He also falsified his community service record, which is a probation violation.

Additionally, a police raid of his Los Angeles home uncovered ammunition, which is a violation of the terms of his probation. Soulja's home was raided on accusations he attacked an ex-girlfriend and held her hostage (Soulja Boy Under Criminal Investigation For Kidnapping And Beating A Woman).

As a result of these events, Soulja has been locked up for the past 20-days. The judge has ordered him to serve an additional 200 days (40-days was taken off his sentence as credit for the 20-days served). Soulja was potentially facing 2-years in prison, but the judge was lenient in sentencing. He has also been sentenced to 265-days of community service.

In the time Soulja has been behind bars, his home was burgled. The thieves made off with $500,000 in jewelry and cash by stealing his safe. It is not known at this time if Soulja insured his jewelry. It is very difficult to obtain insurance policy reimbursement for burglaries that concern stolen cash. They also stole his iPhone, which he left logged-in to Instagram, prompting the criminals to post on his social networking page. The burglars entered through a door of his house that was damaged during the February 2019 police raid that uncovered the ammunition.

In Janaury, Soulja signed a $1,000,000 record deal with disgraced sexual harasser and embezzler, L.A. Reid, who launched a new label called Hitco. However, none of the artists on the Hitco label have met with any musical success. It's not that they are untalented. Their music is explicit, which is harder to sell and Reid lost much of his clout when he was fired from Epic Records/Sony Music, for sexually assaulting and harassing his secretary, who sued him and Sony Music.

Reid was also terminated from Epic Records/Sony Music for embezzlement. Reid does not have the entertainment industry connections he once had, which means no real airplay for his recording artists and television appearances to promote projects have been next to none. However, Soulja signed with Reid for the money.
