Why Modern Mainstream Music Stinks

I have been following the story of Scottish singer Susan Boyle through the news and I find it a lovely story. However, it is another blaring illustration of why mainstream modern music is generally complete rubbish.

Terrible, disingenuous record executives like Simon Cowell and his buddy, the other Simon, to name a few (the whole Sony building) are the reason mainstream music today lacks soul, originality and verve.

These so-called record executives, with no talent themselves, try to construct artists, when singers are born, not formulated. Boyle, a 47-year-old woman, with graying hair, un-plucked brows and matronly garb, strolled into an audition for the television show, Britain's Got Talent.

Immediately, the rude, wretched Simon Cowell, sarcastically rolled his dark brown eyes at her, that are beginning to blend in with his deeply, faux tanned skin. 

Bear in mind, it is a talent completion, not a beauty pageant, therefore his automatic rejecting reaction speaks volumes on his soulless, arrogant, unoriginal, ill-informed approach to music.

When Boyle opened her mouth and sang, she wowed the crowd and alleged talent scout and music executive, Cowell, was left red-faced (not brown-faced this time) and embarrassed.

This is why the majority of the music that appears on mainstream radio is so bland, generic and boring. Executives search for looks and not talent. People can't see a person over the radio and regardless, society isn't so narrow-minded that it would matter.

Many people that do not own that stereotypical Hollywood definition of beauty are quite popular and well-liked. It's the pop culture bubble that you, Hollywood, created that discriminates. It is particularly cruel to women, more so than men. 

Then, when said shallow executives do find artists with that Hollywood look, they sign them and try to compensate for that, by stealing other people's copyrighted music to bolster a phony artist's credibility, also know as a felony under U.S. and international law.

Cowell, who is known as a "sponger" "thief" and "slavetrader" due to ripping off artists, better watch his step with Boyle. If the public believes for one second he is mistreating or robbing her, it's a wrap for him.

"We were all guilty on the panel of judging her before she sang, and we got it utterly wrong. You watch it back and it is embarrassing," said Cowell, who is well-known as the acid-tongued judge on TV talent contest "American Idol."

"Britain's Got Talent" is open to anyone regardless of age or performing skills. It has 40 versions worldwide and the fourth season of the U.S. version, "America's Got Talent," kicks off on NBC on June 23...
