Senate Hearings On Alberto Gonzales US Attorney Scandal Set To Begin

Berto, "you got some esplaining to do!"

The definition of democracy is: "government by the people."

In any good government there should be accountability, especially in a democracy. Government without accountability equals a dictatorship.

Many of you have been watching the Alberto Gonzales scandal, where he is accused of improperly firing eight U.S. attorneys. Leahy and co. are preparing the subpoenas for Rove and co. regarding the matter.

Gonzales to Congress: Rove made me do it!

However, according to articles, the President doesn’t want Rove and his other high ranking aides to testify under oath or in public. The President presented a deal for Rove to testify to Congress in private, with no transcript and not under oath. Congress, at the time of this writing, balked at it.

With all due respect, this leaves America’s 300,000,000 people out of the picture and out of the loop.

It’s like sending the country to its room like a child, because the adults are going to speak privately. How can the American people be left out of the conversation. Transparency would be the appropriate course of action.

It doesn’t matter which party you belong to, people involved in any democracy should want transparency for the sake of the people and the President.

Once again, transparency for the sake of the long-suffering American people would be appropriate.
