Scooter Libby Told To Scoot To Jail Scooter Libby Hung Out To Dry June 7. 2007 Scooter: I’m gonna get Cheney and Rove for this.
Boy, Scooter Libby is up a creek. A judge "threw the book at him" sentencing him to 2 1/2 years for perjury. The law is the law. No one had any business breaking it and outing a spy. You exposed that woman to grave danger and it could have ended very badly. It's a shame you didn't give up your accomplices. The whole nation waited bated breath in the hopes that you would. WASHINGTON -- Former top White House official Lewis (Scooter) Libby implored a U.S. court to consider his "whole life" before sending him to jail for lying about the outing of a CIA spy. Instead, U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton threw the book at Vice-President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff yesterday, hitting him with 2½ years in prison, a $250,000 (U.S.) fine plus two years community service for thwarting a federal investigation. Judge Walton, a no-nonsense federal adjudicator, said the need to punish those who lie under oath outweighed Mr. Libby's dedicated service to the country. "People who occupy these types of positions, where they have the welfare and security of nation in their hands, have a special obligation to not do anything that might create a problem," Judge Walton said. - Globe And Mail |
