Alaska politician and former Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, is in trouble today, over a video she released denouncing media attacks on her, regarding the Tucson massacre. She accused some in the press of a "blood libel." Not familiar with the term, I had to look it up. It is listed as pejorative used against Jewish people, as they were accused of killing Christian babies for their blood to be used in sacrifices. Jewish people find the term very offensive.

It was not the best term for Palin to employ, as it holds a sore spot for Jewish people. Additionally, U.S. Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords, who was the target of the shooting, is Jewish and battling for her life in the hospital. Some believe the shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, was anti-Semitic, which could be the case, as he would frequent a website that has posted mean things about Jewish people.
