Record Company Mad At Axl Rose No Show For Promo December 2. 2008
Most people know you can’t just drop a CD and not promote it on radio and TV or it will probably flop. Keeping that in mind, one has to assume Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses was having some type of anxiety attack that barred him from any promo work. This is after all a group that sold 28 million copies of its debut CD. Clearly, the mainstream music industry messes with the sanity of stars. This is Guns N’ Roses first album in 14 years. When you think about it, they could have released at least 7 albums in that time frame. That's almost a career's worth of work that never happened. AWOL Axl Rose Blamed For Poor Guns N' Roses Album Sales Sales of Guns N' Roses' 'Chinese Democracy' have failed to meet expectations because the record has been poorly promoted, reports claim. Label bosses at Geffen Records are understood to have shouldered much of the blame on frontman Axl Rose, who has been out of contact for two months… First week sales of 'Chinese Democracy' in the US, where the album was available exclusively in Best Buy stores, are understood to be approaching 500,000. Kanye, Guns N' Roses Post Slow Debut-Week Sales While mainstream media is touting that the Black Friday weekend started the holiday selling season with a bang, music merchandisers certainly didn't have that experience. Music sales were down anywhere from 10% to 30% and hit albums released for Black Friday didn't perform up to expectations, according to merchants contacted by Billboard. Sources say Kanye West's "808s & Heartbreak" will sell in the range of 425,000-450,000 units, significantly down from 700,000-975,000 units previously projected. |
