Public Outraged As Police Shot Unarmed Man 20 Times Killing Him Over A Mobile Phone (Video) March 27. 2018
Stephon Clark 22-year-old Stephon Clark was shot to death in Sacramento, California when police mistook his mobile phone for a toolbar, as he walked to his grandmother's backyard. It's not an usual occurrence for people to enter their home from the backyard or a backdoor. I have done that many times based on where I was coming from that particular day. One of the officers yelled at Clark "show me your hands" and he did, to which the cop screamed "gun, gun, gun!" The two responding officers then opened fire and a total of 20 shots penetrated the body of Clark, killing the unarmed young man. This incident was truly tragic.
Stephon Clark's grandmother Sequita Thompson crying at a press conference in reference to her grandson's death and asking for answers about the tragedy It again highlights previously items on this site, stating police need to keep a safe distance when pursuing alleged suspects, because fear of being shot and working under stereotypes of black males, is getting innocent young African-American men killed in America. This incident should not have happened. He had every right to be in his backyard and he followed police instructions. Questions are being asked regarding why the officers muted the sound on their bodycams, which captured the shooting. Under the circumstances it does look a certain way. The officers need to explain why they muted the sound on the bodycams. Transparency is key in police matters.
The officers have been placed on administrative leave while the case is being investigated. This incident has sparked massive protests in Sacramento that has gone on for days and and elicited worldwide press coverage, as Clark did nothing wrong. This is very sad. My condolences to Stephon Clark's family and friends. STORY SOURCE Officers muted body cameras in Stephon Clark shooting. Why?
