Prosecutors in Alabama have upgraded the
kidnapping charges against 30-year-old Ibraheem Yazeed,
to capital murder, in the death of 19-year-old
university student, Aniah Blanchard. CCTV footage from a
convenience store, as well as DNA in Blanchard's
vehicle, ties Yazeed to her kidnapping.
After clearly acting on information they
were given by someone with knowledge of the crime,
police found remains in a wooded area of Shorter,
Alabama. The coroner's office did an autopsy and
confirmed the remains were that of Blanchard.
Upon proper inspection, the coroner
discovered Blanchard was shot to death. It explains the
large volume of blood found in her SUV that led police
to state during the search phase of the case, that she
had suffering a "life threatening injury."
Prosecutors are now seeking the death
penalty for Yazeed, who is a very violent criminal.
Previously, Yazeed attempted to murder three people in
two known cases (an elderly person and in a second case
two police officers). He was out on bail pending trial,
when he struck again, but this time he succeeded in
murdering someone - Blanchard.
It is clear Yazeed is a homicidal maniac
and psychopath, who roamed the streets targeting
innocent people. This is what his criminal record
illustrates. He spotted a beautiful girl, Blanchard, in
a convenience store, buying a snack. He decided to
kidnap, then kill her, completely breaking her family's
heart.

It was reported there was damage to the
right side (passenger side) of her vehicle, indicating
there was a struggle between Blanchard and Yazeed. He
kidnapped her with the intent of committing rape and at
a minimum assault (he has a history of attempted murder
via battering people).
In my opinion, during the kidnap, she
fought back, with some type of struggle transpiring
behind the wheel, resulting in damage to the right side
of the car. In a rage, he shot Blanchard and disposed of
her body in the woods, 25-miles away from the scene of
the kidnapping.
Alabama is a big place. It is likely one
of his fellow suspects, Antwain Fisher and David
Johnson, who were arrested for aiding Yazeed in
disposing of evidence and giving him a ride after the
kidnapping, told police where Blanchard was buried. How
else would police know exactly where to find Blanchard's
"skeletal remains" and so far away from the site of the
kidnapping. Police declared with certainty it was
Blanchard's remains before the skeleton was tested.
What an evil crime. It is infuriating.
Blanchard had barely lived her life, which was such a
promising one, when Yazeed decided to take it away in
such a cruel manner. Justice must be served. This crime
cannot go unpunished by the courts, who failed three
times before concerning Yazeed.
Lee County District Attorney Brandon
Hughes stated, "We have determined that Mr.Yazeed is the
lone person responsible in this case for abducting Aniah
Blanchard, he is the lone person responsible for Aniah's
murder. This case has absolutely shaken our community to
its core."
Hughes also stated, "It is my intention
that the response to this horrific crime be a warning to
anyone, anyone who believes they want to come to Lee
County and engage in violent criminal behavior. They
will certainly be dealt with, and the consequences will
be severe."
