Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and his wife, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will officially discontinue their duties as royals on March 31, 2020. The couple have left the royal family, due to a terrible problem that occurred at Buckingham Palace, which left them devastated. Press harassment was a secondary problem that pales in comparison.

Legal battles have emerged regarding the Sussexs new business ventures, which the couple have undertaken to financially support themselves. The couple applied in Britain at the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to trademark the name Sussex Royal. However, a legal challenge was entered in the form of a "notice of threatened opposition."

News reports indicate "an Australian doctor" filed the formal opposition to the name being trademarked by the couple, though he has no rights to it. The challenge was then rescinded when the story went public and the publicity became unfavorable to him. This has not stopped others from filing similar nuisance claims. Three new people have filed "notice of threatened opposition" claims in attempting to block Harry and Meghan using what is technically their titles.

There were also stories in the British press stating the Queen had opposed the couple using the word "royal" in the proposed trademark "Sussex Royal." The Queen does not want anything to detract from herself, heir Prince Charles and his son, Prince William, who is third in line to the throne and Prince Harry's brother.

As Harry and Meghan are the Sussexs by titles, which they have retained, people should desist filing legal challenges and mounting opposition to a name they have no right to in any legal venue. As it stands, Harry and Meghan are the Sussex brand, whether or not you agree with it.
