Prince Andrew on "Newsnight"

This is a follow up to yesterday's Judiciary Report articles "Prince Andrew Television Interview On Jeffrey Epstein Scandal Goes Spectacularly Wrong With The Press And Public Branding It A Disaster (Video)" and "Former British Home Secretary Reveals Prince Andrew Used The Racial Slur Nig*er."

Today it was announced that Prince Andrew is retiring from public life, due to his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, regarding the late pedophile sex trafficking underage girls to his famous friends and raping the minors as well. Epstein died in jail while awaiting trial. While the official cause of death has been ruled a suicide, a private coroner hired by Epstein's brother stated it was a homicide.

Prince Andrew's statement read, "It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support. Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission. I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein. His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure. I can only hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives. Of course, I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required."

The royal family has never had this type of scandal before. This is certainly the worst one to have gone public. It will unquestionably impact the royal family's future in a negative way, as calls for the monarchy to be abolished are growing online, at a greater rate than they ever have before.

In a statement released today - the 72nd wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip - the Duke of York said it had "become clear" to him that "my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work."

And he expressed sympathy for the victims of the convicted sex offender and disgraced financier, saying he "hoped they could rebuild their lives." And he announced he was "willing" to help "any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations".
