Police Apprehend Man In The Stabbing Of British Rapper Young Spray

Police in London have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the brutal stabbing of rapper Young Spray (real name Leon Riviere). Young Spray was stabbed by rivals involved in a gang, backstage at the GRM Daily Rated Awards, attended by some of the top rappers in Britain. Videos uploaded online shows a wounded Young Spray sitting on the ground, with blood everywhere from the attack. He is recovering from his wounds. Police continue to search for additional suspects who perpetrated the attack.

The question is why is it some in the entertainment industry feel the need to engage in violence. In the mid-1990s rappers Tupac and the Notorious BIG were shot to death in drive-by shootings, in acts many in the industry believe former Death Row Records CEO, Suge Knight, had a hand in. A number of newer rappers have also been killed in America recently in acts of gang violence. In Toronto, Canada two rappers connected to Drake were killed recently in separate, violent incidents. A few years ago in Kingston, Jamaica, rapper Vybz Kartel was arrested and convicted in a man’s death.

Why must the rap industry worldwide feel the need to act out a hardcore image. What good is being a rich rapper if you’re dead. As the phrase goes, "You can’t take it with you." The money and the fame stay behind. Therefore, stop associating with and behaving like criminals. There is no need for it. People need to learn to set a good example and channel their energies into positive things. Violence is not the way. You get a chance to make it as a famous entertainer, earning huge sums of money, why throw it all away via crime. Leave that lifestyle alone.

Police have arrested a man after rapper Young Spray was stabbed at a star-studded grime music awards event. Leon Riviere, 37, was knifed repeatedly while in a backstage dressing room at the Apollo in Hammersmith during the GRM Daily Rated Awards.

Horrifying footage showed the rapper, known as Young Spray, in a pool of blood while slumped against the wall after the attack on September 4. Scotland Yard said on Wednesday that officers had arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of GBH in connection with the attack.
