Papa Johns CEO John Schnatter Resigns After Being Outed For Using The N-Word During Conference Call

Papa Johns pizza restaurants announces the resignation of founder John Schnatter

Papa Johns pizza founder and CEO, John Schnatter, has resigned from the company, after using the n-word during a conversation. Schnatter was on a conference call with the marketing company Laundry Service and during the course of the conversation stated, "Colonel Sanders called blacks niggers." Schnatter also stated that growing up in Indiana he saw black people being dragged behind vehicles until they died. The statement caused offense, as some interpreted it as complicity.

Laundry Service severed ties with Schnatter after his statement during the conference call and went public with the story. The Miami Marlins baseball team have also cut ties with Papa Johns over the incident. Schnatter maintains a stake in Papa Johns and is the company's largest shareholder. He has retained his shares in the company, even in the face of the current scandal. Schnatter has apologized for the incident stating, "Regardless of the context, I apologize. Simply stated, racism has no place in our society."
