When an actress or singer reaches a certain age in Hollywood, she is considered old news. As stated previously, youth is given preferential treatment and age becomes a liability. Hence, much of the programming coming out of Hollywood and music on the air, lacks any substantive quality, as it largely features pretty young things, often with no talent.

However, what happens when an actress or singer without talent, such as Madonna or Demi Moore, who became famous for selling sex and their bodies, via nudity and vulgarity, gets older. Audiences turn away, as the one thing they were there for, young bimbos willing to compromise themselves, is gone.  

Meryl Streep, 61

This explains why stars like Meryl Streep continue to have hits in the mainstream at any age, while the aforementioned, who lack talent, struggle in their careers. There is still much to be said for talent.
