President Barack Obama has announced today that he plans to send more troops to Afghanistan to fight terrorists and insurgents that pose a threat to the United States. He is also offering financial and military aid to Pakistan to do more to fight insurgents.

Obama was quoted as stating regarding his military plans, "That strategy is to disrupt, dismantle and defeat Al Qaeda, its associates and destroy their safe havens...this strategy is a strategy, it's not a straightjacket. It's designed to be flexible. We will re-asses as we go along."

March 26 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama wants to send 4,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan, part of a new effort to stabilize and root out terrorist threats in the country as well as neighboring Pakistan, administration officials said.
