Obama Rival Mitt Romney Trounced Newt Gingrich In The Primaries But He Won’t Quit Gingrich Also Took Votes From Rick Santorum April 18. 2012
Mitt Romney: he's such a sore loser! Fresh off his victories in key election states, the former Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney, scored significant wins over former frontrunner, Newt Gingrich. Every primary he took put Gingrich further behind, yet he refuses to leave the race, following Rick Santorum's cue. The more momentum Romney gains via wins in U.S. states, represents the greater number of voters he can sway to propel him through to the nomination of the Republican party for the November 2012 election, against President Barack Obama.
Newt Gingrich is playing a game After Romney victories were announced, Gingrich even gave press conferences, where some expected him to gracefully withdraw from the race, but it was not to be. Gingrich is still plotting a path, but with each new state race, it becomes more apparent victory is not in store. By remaining in the race, he split the vote, forcing Santorum out of the race and prolonging the electoral process.
Obama: I know it's Romney In the mean time, President Obama isn't focusing on anyone in the race other than Romney, which should be an indication to Gingrich that his ship has sailed in regard to the nomination. However, he remains in the race for reasons known to him and others in political circles. Either way you look at it, Romney is currently the frontrunner in the race, with major polls proclaiming he will be the next president.
