In spite of the fact, U.S. President Barack Obama, has clammed up on the topic of the 9/11 mosque, due to earlier statements being met with anger by Americans, the scandal continues to blanket the political landscape, with people wondering what he was thinking.

When asked about the issue again this week, President Obama, refused comment, after last week's incendiary statements. Former President, George W. Bush, has also declined comment, ducking the issue as he did a reporter's shoe in Iraq.

However, the political damage of the self-inflicted scandal, has hurt the President's interests in Washington. Numerous television shows, newspapers and blogs are pressing the issue, with many believing him to be a Muslim, endangering New Yorkers, in championing a mosque that poses a great risk to national security.

Political analysts are weighing what the fall out of this scandal will produce for Obama's Democratic Party in the upcoming elections and for the President in 2012. Many Democrats have scrambled to distance themselves from the President, due to this controversy.
