Mary J. Blige and Kendu Isaacs
47-year-old singer, Mary J Blige, has
settled her acrimonious divorce from Kendu Isaacs. The two
were married for 13-years. This was Isaacs' second marriage.
Blige privately settled the divorce before the Academy
Awards last week, where she was nominated for "Best Actress"
and "Best Original Song."
Isaacs tried to take Blige for all she was worth, demanding
$129,319 per month in spousal support, despite the fact the couple did not have
a biological child together. The presiding judge in the case ordered Blige to
pay $30,000 per month (prior to the divorce being settled), which in my opinion
was exorbitant and undeserved.
Isaacs squandered $420,000 of Blige's money on their failed
music protégé, Starshell, real name LaNeah Menzies,
whom he cheated with throughout their tumultuous
marriage. Isaacs does not deserve to be financially rewarded for such harmful,
disloyal conduct. He should have been the one to pay. However, without Blige, he
had no money.

Isaacs was Blige's manager, but greatly
overstated his impact on her career. Blige was rich and
famous 20-years prior to meeting Isaacs. Once at the helm,
Isaacs made poor decisions that damaged her career. Isaacs'
poor decision making contributed to Blige's FFAWN charity
folding in disgrace for financial misappropriation and the
couple owing the IRS $6,500,000. Isaacs also ran up $100,000
in legal fees during the divorce that Blige is being ordered
to pay.
As if the adultery was not bad enough, Isaacs did spiteful
things to Blige, such as withholding her Grammy awards and other items she won.
According to court papers, Blige makes a reported $326,930 per month, but is
$10,000,000 in debt, due to mortgages on 5 properties, multiple cars (including
the Mercedes that Isaacs' drives). Blige paid for everything (and in more ways
than one).
The mere fact Isaacs demanded six figures per month in spousal
support, stating he would be destitute without it, shows he was not a successful
manager with his own money, but stepped into a situation that was already
established by her previous industry managers, agents and other music industry
executives. The terms of their settlement have not been disclosed, but you can
be sure, Blige got burned.
