Mariah Carey is working on a nutty musical based on her "wildly popular" Christmas album, according to website Hollyscoop. No disrespect intended to Hollyscoop, but “Wildly popular”?

How soon Mariah forgets that album, much like many of her releases during ex-husband Tommy Mottola’s tenure at Sony, were not based in real sales, but inflated numbers and very high shipment quantities to gain unearned and undeserved RIAA and world chart certifications.

Mariah Carey is working on a movie musical based on her wildly popular Christmas album.

Here's the basic storyline: When a real estate developer tries to turn a local town into one big shopping mall, Mariah steps in to save the day. "Her character uses song and love to keep the Christmas spirit alive," according to her producing partner Benny Medina.
